To calculate someone's age based on their date of birth, you need to know two things: the person's birthdate and the current date. Once you have these two pieces of information, you can subtract the birthdate from the current date to determine the person's age.

Here's an example: let's say someone was born on May 1, 1990 and today is May 5, 2023. To calculate their age, you would first subtract their birth year from the current year: 

2023 - 1990 = 33 

Next, you would check to see if the person has had their birthday yet this year. If their birthday has already passed, you would leave the result as is. However, if their birthday has not yet passed, you would subtract one from the result. 

For example, if the person in our example was born on May 1 and today is May 5, their birthday has already passed this year. Therefore, their age is simply 33. But if their birthday was on May 15 instead, you would subtract one from the result: 

2023 - 1990 = 33 - 1 = 32

So in summary, to calculate someone's age from their date of birth, you subtract their birth year from the current year and adjust for whether or not their birthday has passed this year.
